i mean..it's not canola oil and old diapers is it?

would this work on an old supra as well as an old Aston???
where are the details on this method?

I don't know anything about the method, but in terms of what stains are easy to get rid of and protecting parts with oil:

Canola would degrade too fast in the sun. I'd say lightly-used gasoline grade motor oil - 10W30 or thereabouts.

The rag used would presumably be a standard red cloth shop rag. Not absorbent enough to remove all oil from the skin, just rough enough to polish lightly, durable enough to go for the whole application. Not soft.
